Thank you for taking a moment to peruse Hoeft & Hoeft Inc.’s website. Owner and operator Kurt Hoeft is originally a New England native, but began his woodworking career further south. In 1978, Kurt completed a 4-year vocational program in carpentry, at which time he became a member of the Carpenter’s Union in Florida. He worked as an in-house cabinetmaker for upscale department stores like Saks 5th Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Burdines & Macy’s, building custom displays and cabinetry. This is where Kurt fine-tuned his craft, working under the tutelage of fine German craftsman. Fulfilling a childhood dream, he became a professional Firefighter for the Ft. Myers Beach Fire Dept for 12 years while he ran a small construction company, Hoeft and Hoeft.
Kurt successfully earned his building contractor’s license in the state of Florida in 1996; a challenging process compared to most other state’s requirements. A year later he moved back to Maine, where he spent his childhood summers, to raise his family in a New England atmosphere. Working in New England, the traditional building style of timber framing was a natural step to meet the client’s needs. Here Kurt quickly became the contractor of choice for new construction and renovation among owners of lakefront summer homes. With the majority of his client base living year-round in the Southern New Hampshire or Northern Massachusetts area, the pressure was on to expand Hoeft and Hoeft’s service area. After careful consideration Kurt decided that New Hampshire’s Seacoast was the right place to settle down with his wife and three year old son to establish roots.
This area is increasing its demand for efficient, beautiful homes that fit with the historic charm of New England, yet also allow for more modern open and creative designs. Kurt is confident in his ability to quickly set himself apart from other contractors with his attention to detail, dedication to his clients, and specialized skill in the crafts that his company offers.
